ScotRail clip shows white out on Forth Bridge as train crosses with near zero visibility

With snow blanketing much of the country as the cold snap across Scotland continue, it seems it's not just cars that are facing tough conditions.

ScotRail have posted a shocking clip taken from the back of the train as it crosses the Forth Bridge, showing just how little visibility there is.

Filmed by one of their conductors, the firm used the white out video to highlight the problems the network is currently facing thanks to Storm Darcy.

Posting it to their official Twitter account, ScotRail wrote: "We're dealing with some pretty challenging weather across our network right now.

This was the view from the Forth Bridge a short while ago. Thanks to Conductor Scott for sharing this clip."

Traffic Scotland also posted the clip, warning those using public transport to take care and expect delays.

The post came as Storm Darcy continued to cause disruption up and down the country this morning, after Scots woke to a blanket of heavy snow fall and freezing temperatures.

Forecasters have predicted that we could face up to 20cm of the white stuff falling right through until Tuesday afternoon.

The Met Office has a yellow weather warning in place until 9pm for much of the country, which a separate amber weather warning is in place for the central belt and east coast.

Several clips have already been captured of people struggling with the conditions, including one in Glasgow where a Tesla car was spotted skidding down a hill before crashing into a parked car.

Police Scotland have asked people not to travel unless the trip is absolutely essential, a spokesperson added: "We've had a busy morning already in #JDRPU rescuing motorists and attending crashes.

"If you really must drive, slow down, keep a bigger distance from vehicles in front and pack warm clothing, water and food."
