ScotRail bans alcohol on Glasgow trains as Scotland fans gear up for Euro 2020 qualifier against San Marino

An alcohol ban is being introduced on trains from Glasgow Central to Mount Florida and Kings Park today.

Booze will be prohibited on services from 1pm today, in a bid to ensure safety for passengers as Scotland fans gear up for the Euro 2020 qualifying fixture against San Marino at 5pm.

ScotRail will also add extra carriages to trains to and from Glasgow and Mount Florida - the closest station to Hampden Park – as well as on trains to Perth after the final whistle.

Queuing systems may be in place at Glasgow Central before the match, and at Mount Florida station afterwards.

Passengers are being advised to head back to Mount Florida as quickly as possible after the game finishes and join the queues on Bolton Drive as trains are expected to be busy.

And to help ensure customers arrive at the game on time, they should allow extra time for travel – as well as purchasing tickets to Mount Florida in advance.

ScotRail Head of Customer Operations Phil Campbell said: “We’re looking forward to helping supporters travel to the game to cheer on our national team.

“To help the event run smoothly, we’re adding extra carriages to services to and from Hampden.

“But trains will be busier than normal, so customers should plan ahead. Check your train times on our website or mobile app and allow extra time for travel.”
