ScotRail have announced a temporary timetable which will affect services in Falkirk.

It will come into force on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, operating Monday to Friday, and last until Tuesday, January 28, 2022.

Glasgow to Edinburgh trains via Cumbernauld and Falkirk Grahamston have been withdrawn as part of the new schedule.

This includes services 0633, 0735, 0934, 1637, 1735 from Edinburgh to Glasgow and 0700, 0756, 1656, 1756 from Glasgow to Edinburgh.

However, trains between Glasgow to Edinburgh via Falkirk High will remain normal.

It comes as a number of ScotRail staff have been absent due to the spread of the Omicron variant of coronavirus.

A ScotRail spokesperson said: "The rapid spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant has resulted in a large number of absences at ScotRail, with colleagues testing positive, awaiting results, or having to self-isolate.

"This means that several services have been changed or even cancelled, in recent weeks.

"To avoid further last-minute changes and provide a greater level of certainty to our customers, a temporary timetable will come into effect from Tuesday 4 January 2022, operating Monday to Friday until Tuesday 28 January 2022."
