Scotland Women stun Brazil in World Cup warm-up clash to earn famous win

Kim Little's first-half strike helped Scotland Women stun Brazil in their penultimate World Cup warm-up clash.

Shelley Kerr's side dumped the 10th best team on the planet in a friendly fixture at the Pinatar Arena in Spain.

It's only the second time any Scottish team has ever beaten Brazil at any level of the game.

Little was first to react to Lizzie Arnott's low cross and she tucked home seven minutes before the interval.

Brazil dominated possession after the break but were unable to find a way through a resilient Scottish rearguard.

Kerr vowed ahead of kick-off that her side would attack the South Americans, whose side featured six-time World Player of the Year Marta.

And so it proved as Scotland almost added to their lead as Brazil went in search of an equaliser.

Scotland have drawn England, Argentina and Japan in their group at this summer's tournament in France and will take a huge boost from victory over the Brazilians.

This summer's showpiece will be Scotland Women's first-ever involvement in a World Cup and they're set to round off their preparations with a Hampden friendly against Jamaica in May.

It's also set to be the nation's first involvement at a senior-level major tournament since 1998.

Kilmarnock defender Greg Taylor was the hero for Scot Gemmill's U-18s in 2017 as his first-half stunner earned a first, historic win against any Brazil side.
