Scotland women's football coach Shelley Kerr honoured by former West Lothian school

Shelley Kerr has been honoured by her former school.

West Calder High School named ts new 3G football pitch after the Scotland women’s football team coach.

Hundreds of primary pupils from the West Calder cluster area were at the school to take part in a football festival.

They joined Provost Tom Kerr and guests to wish Shelley and midfielder Hayley Lauder, from Livingston, the best of luck at the World Cup in France in June.

Shelley presented a signed Scotland shirt to the school and provided some inspirational advice to the young footballers.

Tom Kerr said: “We are very proud of Shelley and Hayley and we couldn’t let their achievements go unrecognised. It was fantastic to see them both at an event with so many local youngsters.

“This is the first time ever that Scotland has qualified for the Women’s World Cup and, as team coach, Shelley will forever be a legend of Scottish women’s football.

“It is very fitting that the new school’s 3G pitches are being named after her.”

He added: “I’m sure everyone in West Lothian will be watching to see how Scotland gets on at the World Cup but, no matter
the results, we are all incredibly proud of Shelley and Hayley.”
