Scotland U19s crash out of Euro qualifying after heavy defeat against Portugal

Scotland crashed out of the U19s Euro elite round after being battered by Portugal.

Billy Stark's side needed just a point to qualify for the finals in Armenia but a heavy 4-0 defeat meant they miss out.

After wins over Cyprus and Turkey, Scotland were confident with key playeres such as Billy Gilmour, Glenn Middleton, Ewan Henderson and Zak Rudden all on form.

But it turned into a nightmare as they were 2-0 down after just 21 minutes. Romaio Baro and Umaro Embalo scored the goals and it was a long road back for Scotland.

It got even harder for Billy Stark's men in the second half when Robbie Deas and Stephen Kelly were both shown red cards.

Celtic defender Deas went first before Rangers youngster Kelly followed him down the tunnel.

And Portugal took full advantage as they added a third through Baro before Joao Mario sealed the win with a fourth to send Scotland crashing out.
