Scotland travel rules: Full list of green, amber and red countries as of July 2021

From 4am on June 30, more countries were added to the UK's green list including Malta, Madeira and the Balearic Islands giving the green light to holidaymakers.

It comes as Jet2 returned to the skies following the international covid travel update with more countries, including Malta and Portugal, asking tourists to be fully vaccinated before entering or risk facing 14-days of quarantine.

Despite the update to the green list, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon urged the public to get the jag in order to return to normality.

In her speech today (July 2), the FM said drop-in vaccination centres would open across the country from Monday (July 5) to help speed up the roll out.

The latest information shows that more 50% of the population is now fully vaccinated with Ms Sturgeon saying: "We’re trying to make this as easy and accessible for as many as possible. You can turn up to a drop-in, you can attend your schedule appointment or reschedule your appointment.

"Our biggest vulnerability is that there are still quite a lot of people who don’t have the protection of both doses. We’re vaccinating as quickly as supplies and the timing of second doses allow us to do so."

Focusing on the update, Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps said: "We’re moving forward with efforts to safely reopen international travel this summer, and thanks to the success of our vaccination programme, we’re now able to consider removing the quarantine period for fully vaccinated UK arrivals from amber countries – showing a real sign of progress.

"It’s right that we continue with this cautious approach, to protect public health and the vaccine rollout as our top priority, while ensuring that our route out of the international travel restrictions is sustainable.

"Travel continues to be different this year, and passengers face longer wait times, although government is making every effort to speed up queues safely. Those returning from red list countries will continue to be separated from other passengers in dedicated terminals to be processed as safely and efficiently as possible, before being transferred to a managed quarantine hotel."
