Scotland to be hotter than Barcelona as temperatures sizzle

Scotland is set to be hotter than Lisbon and Barcelona tomorrow as the bank holiday scorcher spills into the rest of the week.

Many will be taking to parks, beaches and beauty spots across the country today as the thermostat looks to stay above 20C in most parts of Scotland for a third day in a row.

But forecasters anticipate it to get even hotter tomorrow - with experts predicting that it could be the hottest day of the year so far.

Temperatures will once again rise above the 20C mark, with some central areas seeing highs approaching the mid-20s.

Glasgow is likely to see the warmest weather tomorrow afternoon, with temperatures set to peak at around 24C - which is a degree or so higher than both the Portuguese and Catalan capital.

The Met Office says that Tuesday will be another “mainly sunny and warm” day for the majority of Scotland.

Inverness and Edinburgh will see the mercury peak above 20C, while it is expected to be much cooler in the likes of Dundee and Aberdeen - with highs of around 12C.

Winds are expected to be light across the country, with them picking up at times along the coast.

Scots have been urged to consider using sun cream over Monday and Tuesday, as the UV levels are expected to be high across the country.

Forecasters anticipate that the dry weather will continue across Scotland throughout this week.

The change in the weather will be a welcome relief for many Scots who have endured the likes of heavy rain, high winds and even snow throughout this month.

Experts say that Scotland could have potentially recorded one of its wettest months of May since records began in 1841.
