Scotland to be battered by wind and rain this weekend as yellow weather warning issued

Heavy rain and strong winds are set to batter most of Scotland this weekend.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Friday and Saturday for wind and rain with gusts of 70mph expected.

The news follows on from a very wet and windy week of weather across most of the country.

From 6pm on Friday to 3pm on Saturday, strong southwesterly winds are expected with 70mph possible which could result in transport and rail delays.

Again a yellow warning will be in place from 8pm on Friday until midday on Saturday with persistent and heavy rain set to develop overnight.

Strong to gale force southwesterly winds will bring outbreaks of heavy rain across Scotland, this heaviest and most persistent across western, central and southern Scotland, the Met Office reports.

40-60mm of rain is expected, with up to 100mm possible over high ground of Argyll.
