Scotland is set to be battered by 80mph gale force winds next week.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for large parts of the country.

Forecasters warn conditions will be coupled up with downpours and low temperatures.

The extreme weather is expected to cause power shortages and delays to public transport services.

Some areas could also see flooding.

Drivers are being warned to take car while commuting.

The weather warning comes after Scotland enjoyed one of the mildest winters on record.
