Scotland team v Israel revealed as Manchester United man handed surprise role and QPR striker earns debut

Lyndon Dykes has been handed his first start for Scotland, with Steve Clarke also making a big call over Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.

The make-up of the team to take on Israel tonight suggests McTominay could feature as part of a back four, with Kieran Tierney, Andy Robertson and Scott McKenna the only recognised defenders included.

Old Firm players Ryan Jack, Callum McGregor, James Forrest and Ryan Christie dominate the midfield, along with John McGinn of Aston Villa. Dykes will start in attack.

Scotland line up as follows: Marshall, McTominay, Robertson, Jack, McKenna, Tierney, Forrest, McGinn, Dykes, McGregor, Christie.

Subs: McLaughlin, McCrorie, Paterson, Fleck, Gallagher, Cooper, Burke. Armstrong, McLean, O'Donnell, Palmer, Taylor.

Tonight's Nations League match represents the third time Scotland and Israel have played in the last two seasons. They came together in the previous Nations league campaign with the teams winning one match each.

They will also go head-to-head in next month's massive Euro 2020 play-off semi-final in Glasgow.

This evening's match will kick-off at 7.45pm, and is live on Sky Sports.
