Scotland team v Croatia revealed as Stuart Armstrong replaces Billy Gilmour

The Scotland team tasked with creating history and reaching the knockout stages of a major tournament for the first tim ein our history has been named.

Steve Clarke's camp was rocked by the news that Chelsea starlet Billy Gilmour was ruled out of the crunch clash with Croatia after returning a positive Covid test and having to self isolate for ten days.

But the former Rangers youngster's enforced absence is the only change form the side that kept their qualification hopes alive with a 0-0 draw against England at Wembley.

Stuart Armstrong take Gilmour's place in midfield alongside Celtic's Callum McGregor and Aston Villa's John McGinn.

But other than that, Clarke has kept faith with the side that ensured progression came down to tonight's Hampden decider.

For Croatia, Borna Barisic misses out on playing in his adopted home city after injury ensured he wasn't fit enough to feature for his country tonight, but the big names such as Luka Modric and Ivan Perisic are in as the Croats look to deny Scotland and progress at their hosts' expense.

Scotland: Marshall, McTominay Hanley, Tierney, O'Donnell, Robertson, McGregor, McGinn, Armstrong, Adams, Dykes.

Subs: Gordon, McLaughlin, Gallagher, Cooper, Patterson, McKenna, Fleck, Turnbull, Christie, Nisbet, Fraser, Forrest
