Scotland team v Austria confirmed as Steve Clarke makes three changes for World Cup qualifier

Three changes have been made to the Scotland side for tonight’s crunch World Cup qualifier against Austria.

Steve Clarke has rejigged his midfield and attack slightly as he goes in search of a massive three points in Vienna.

Hibs striker Kevin Nisbet drops to the bench with Southampton’s Che Adams partnering Lydndon Dykes up front.

Callum McGregor replaced former Celtic teammate Ryan Christie in midfield and drops deeper to play alongside Billy Gilmour and John McGinn.

Rangers youngster Nathan Patterson pulled out with an injury following the victory over Moldova at Hampden on Saturday.

Stephen O’Donnell is his replacement, slotting in at right wing back.

The three central defenders and goalkeeper remain the same.

The hosts are smarting after a shock 5-2 defeat to Israel at the weekend and will be looking to bounce back.

A win would give Scotland a four-point cushion over their opponents and could move them into second position should Denmark take care of Israel.

Scotland: Gordon, Hendry, Hanley, Tierney, O’Donnell, Gilmour, McGregor, McGinn, Robertson, Adams, Dykes.

Subs: Kelly, Clark, Christie, McKenna, Gallagher, Cooper, Ferguson, Turnbull, Nisbet, P. McGinn.
