Scotland suffer further Euro 2020 blow as THREE stars struck down by injury

Scotland have suffered another heavy blow ahead of Thursday's Euro 2020 play off as three more stars were ruled out.

Scott McKenna, Oliver Burke and Liam Palmer have all been struck down by injuries and will miss the Israel clash plus Nations League encounters against the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The trio's absence follows Stuart Armstrong, Kieran Tierney and Ryan Christie being forced into Covid-19 quarantine.

Armstrong tested positive for the virus on Wednesday and his two team-mates must now self-isolate.

It leaves Steve Clarke 's squad shorn of six players for the nation's biggest international fixture in years.

He admits losing the isolating trio is a huge blow but ultimately the correct decision.

The manager said: “While this is obviously disappointing news the most important thing is the health and safety of the individuals involved and the wider group.

“As soon as we were informed of the positive test, the Chief Medical Consultant immediately contacted the Scottish Government’s clinical adviser, who in turn alerted the local Health Protection Team.

“We have informed the respective clubs from whom we have borrowed the players and backroom staff and we now have to prepare for a huge match ahead tomorrow.”
