Scotland starting team news vs Norway as Steve Clarke's men aim to maintain 100 per cent record

Steve Clarke has named his Scotland team to face Norway in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

The Tartan Army have won their opening two games in the competition, with a famous win over Spain at Hampden Park being one of Scotland's biggest results in recent history. An easy 3-0 win over Cyprus further added to their tally, and as such Clarke's side go into this one with a 100 per cent record, in what is a huge boost to their chances of qualification.

Norway, though, will be a test. Two of their best players in Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard have just come off the back of an outstanding Premier League campaign, whilst fans will know the talents of Moi Elyounoussi and Kristoffer Ajer. But other quality players throughout the team will give them a reason to be wary - and Clarke noted as such before the game.

He said to BBC: "As we always do, we concentrate on ourselves. We prepare properly for the game, we respect our opponents. We play Norway the team, and hopefully Scotland the team are a little bit better on the night."

Meanwhile, Liam Cooper further alluded that Norway would be a big test, with the Leeds man stating: "I don't like to disrespect the Norway team, they have a lot of good players and to put all our focus on one player, I think that would be wrong of us.

"Obviously (Martin) Odegaard is a very good player, he has also been in a title challenge this year. They have got amazing players. We have to keep Erling [Haaland] and Odegaard in check, but there's a lot of other players to worry about as well.

"We are going to need a big performance, especially a defensive performance. Hopefully we can get that, the boys are dialled in, and get a positive result."

SCOTLAND XI: Gunn, Hickey, Hendry, Porteous, Tierney, Robertson, McTominay, McGregor, Christie, McGinn, Dykes

Subs: Kelly, Clark, Hyam, Shankland, Gilmour, Cooper, Armstrong, Ferguson, Nisbet, Jack, Taylor, McLean
