Scotland set for summer scorcher this weekend as temperatures to hit 23C

Temperatures are set to soar this weekend, with Scotland enjoying heat up to 23C.

Heavy downpours of rain might dampen spirits mid-week, but the sunshine will be returning on Friday, just in time for the TRNSMT festival at Glasgow Green.

Scotland's biggest city will have the highest temperatures, peaking 23C on Saturday, while the rest of the country could climb as high as 18C or 19C.

It's set to be another perfect summer weekend and temperatures are expected to remain high until Tuesday.

A mixture of sunshine and clouds are expected for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with the highest temperatures expected on Saturday afternoon.

This will be music to festival revellers ears, as TRNSMT organisers have placed umbrellas on the prohibited items list.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "After a largely settled start to July, the beginning of this period will be more unsettled, with showers or longer outbreaks of rain.

"It will be warm and humid too with the potential for the rain to be heavy at times.

"As we move into the weekend, it is likely to turn more settled again and slightly fresher, with plenty of dry and sunny weather."
