The Met Office has issued two yellow weather warnings for wind and rain which will batter the country over the weekend.
Up to 23 hours of gale force winds and torrential downpours will hit on Saturday evening and is expected to last until Sunday afternoon.
The band of heavy rain will be worst in north-east of Scotland and the Highlands, with almost three inches of rain to fall in 12 hours.
The Met Office warning for rain is in place from Saturday at 4pm until Sunday at 6am. A separate warning from wind is in place from midnight on Saturday until 3pm on Sunday.
Flooding and spray on roads could impact motorists and there could be interruption to power supplies, forecasters warned.
Disruption to travel is also likely, with delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport.
The Met Office said: "An area of heavy rain moving northwards late Saturday and through Sunday morning is likely to bring 40-50 mm of rain in 12 hours over parts of NE Scotland and across Orkney, with a small chance of 70 mm in the north of the warning area.
"It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves."

Meteorologist Clare Nasir said temperatures will are likely to drop to single figures further north after a chilly start to the week.
She warned winds will be particularly strong in the North West of Scotland.
It comes after temperatures dropped to -0.7C in Kinbrace in the Scottish Highlands on Wednesday night as autumn weather draws in.
