Scotland's weather as heavy rain and wind to pummel country for 24 hours

The forecast for Scotland's weather, unsurprisingly, is not looking pleasant.

Heavy and persistent rain, which has already started and will continue in some parts of Scotland tomorrow, will hit the country throughout today.

BBC Scotland forecaster Joy Dunlop said the weather will be wet and windy all day, particularly so in the northwest and Skye.

Today's Met Office reads: "Rain crossing northern and central areas, heavy in places before easing except across northwest Scotland; some brighter breaks developing in eastern shelter.

"Windy for many, gusty in northeast. Very mild."

Winds will reach up to 50 mph in the Western Isles, but there is good news: the temperatures will be mild.

Highs will reach 15C in Glasgow and Edinburgh, 14C across most of Scotland except 13C in Perthshire.

As for this evening, BBC Scotland reported: "Tonight, Scotland and Northern Ireland will see a band of rain move south-eastwards, reaching north-western England later."

The Met Office has a yellow weather warning for southwest Scotland and the borders from 6am tomorrow, October 27, to noon.
