Scotland's UEFA Nations League route confirmed as Steve Clarke faces potential away triple header

Scotland will kick off their six-game UEFA Nations League campaign on September 4 as the competition's schedule was published on Friday.

Steve Clarke 's side will host Israel in the first game of the tournament before travelling to face the Czech Republic three days later.

They will then enjoy a home double-header against Slovakia and the Czechs on 11 and 14 of October.

Just three days before the first of those fixtures the national side are due to take on Israel in the playoffs following on from the last Nations League competition.

And in November Scotland head to Slovakia before finishing the group against the same opposition as last time in Israel.

Once again they are set to take part in the playoff final just three days earlier on November 12 - if they make it past the Israelis in the semi-final - before that away double header on November 15 and 18.

It could mean three away games in a week with the final, which was moved from its original March date due to coronavirus, also set to be played away from home against either Serbia or Norway.

Topping the Nations League group in 2018 secured that spot and the tournament could provide Scotland with a route to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The top two performers in the Nations League that do not go through to the finals automatically or finish as group runners up in regular qualifying will be rewarded with a playoff spot.
