Scotland's stormy summer continues as Met Office issues TWO new warnings

Scotland's stormy summer is set to continue this week after the Met Office issued not one but two fresh weather warnings.

Areas in the northeast will be hit with thunderstorms and heavy rain from noon today until 9pm tonight, with the rest of the country facing the same fate on Wednesday, from midnight for 24 hours.

Scots are being warned to brace for flooding, lightning, hail and strong winds which could lead to possible damage to some buildings and difficult driving conditions.

Public transport services could also be affected so it's important to plan accordingly.

There is also a slight chance of power cuts and fast-flowing or deep floodwater can cause dangerous conditions.

The Met Office's forecast said: "Thunderstorms and outbreaks of heavy rain already affecting some southern and western parts of the warning area during the early hours of Wednesday then become more widespread through Wednesday daytime.

"In a few places these thunderstorms could produce 30 mm of rainfall in an hour and 40 to 50 mm in a few hours. Some parts of the warning area will miss the heaviest rainfall."

The miserable weather comes days after the country enjoyed a scorching heat wave, with temperatures reaching the likes of 29C - quite a rarity for Scotland.

But of course, as Scots we're perfectly aware that this never lasts so before the summer is out, who knows what we can expect?
