Scotland's rainiest cities are unveiled - and Glasgow tops the list

Scotland's rainiest city have been revealed - and Glasgow tops the list as the wettest of them all, according to new data.

The country is known for its unpredictable downpours - and analysts at Showerstoyou.co.uk have crunched Met Office numbers to find out which city has it worst of all.

Glasgow sees a total of 170 days of rainfall a year and an average of 14 days each month - the most out of all UK cities - with the October being the wettest.

For those lucky enough to call Glasgow home, you can expect an average of 94mm of rain monthly - or 1,124mm year-round.

In second place is Aberdeen, with people living here getting 138 days of rainfall a year and an average of 67.9mm per month - or 814.9mm a year.

Analysts crunched Met Office numbers to find out which city is the rainiest (Showerstoyou.co.uk)

Dundee takes third place in Scotland, with 122 days of rainfall - that's 10 days and 60.2mm on average a month. The city sees 722mm a year.

Edinburgh follows closely behind, with 704mm of rain a year - or 58.7mm a month - and 124 wet days out of 365. The Scottish capital has an average of 10.4 rainy days a month.

However, the rainiest city in the whole of the UK is Cardiff . People living here can expect an average of 12 days of rain each month with their heaviest month of downpour being December (125 mm).

ShowersToYou.co.uk used data from the Met Office to find the average annual rainfall in millimetres for each UK city with a population over 100,000 and over and averaged the results.
