Scotland's pro golf season to restart in West Lothian after lockdown restrictions ease

The Scottish professional golf season will tee off in West Lothian next week.

David Longmuir, manager of the PGA in Scotland, announced on Wednesday July 28 that the Masters Pro-Am will take place in Livingston.

The event will be held at Deer Park Golf and Country Park on Wednesday August 5.

It has also been announced that the Loch Lomond Whiskies Scottish PGA Championship will be held at Deer Park in September.

This will be the first time in 30 years that the SPGA flagship event has taken place at Livingston.

Longmuir said: “The PGA in Scotland is pleased to confirm that Scottish Government Ministers have approved the resumption of professional golf competition in Scotland with immediate effect – subject to adherence to all Scottish Government Covid restrictions, as well as the PGA guidance and protocols.”

The general manager at Deer Park Golf and Country Club, Keith Masters, said: “Deer Park Golf and Country Club are delighted that in what is extraordinary times, we are able to have a one day Pro-Am.

“Thirty teams will tee off on August 5 and Muir Leisure and the Scottish PGA have put a lot of time and effort so this event can happen. We all look forward to a great day of competitive golf.”
