Scotland's oldest distillery has relaunched its core whisky range with six new whiskies created by highly respected industry veteran Bob Dalgarno.
The Glenturret is celebrating a new chapter in its 250-year-old history with new ownership and a new look, both at the distillery and in its packaging.
The Perthshire distillery, which was recently bought by luxury goods business Lalique, has introduced four new core expressions: the Triple Wood, a 10 years old Peat Smoked, a 12 years old and a 15 years old.
They've also announced a premium range in a 25 years old and a 30 years old - an ‘Extremely Scarce’ release limited to 1,000 bottles in total.
All of the new expressions will go on sale from September 17 and will come in a new Lalique inspired bottle with a distinctive rectangular profile.
The striking azure blue and crest on the coat of arms of the Murray Family, the distillery founders, features heavily on the new packaging.
John Laurie, managing director at The Glenturret, stated that the hand-crafted tradition employed at the distillery will continue under the new owners, he said: "We produce small batches of the finest single malt by hand and heart.
“Our dedication to very slow distillation in our hand-beaten copper stills reflects the time-honoured skills of our forefathers and the physical limits of a small traditional distillery.
"There is no automation, no big volumes, only simple distilling tasks completed by hand in their own good time."
Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno, who joined from a previous role at Macallan, said: “I saw Glenturret as a great opportunity to work alongside an understated yet highly skilled team who influence the creation of the distillery New Make Spirit as only their hands can.
"Alongside this was the challenge of creating a new range of whiskies with a different cask and character profile. Building on previous experiences and having the freedom to influence and develop, respecting the history whilst writing new chapters was a perfect fit."
Ian Renwick, distillery manager at The Glenturret added: “Having Bob on board is a recognition of the scale of our ambition and a testament to our transformative work over the past eight months.
"Throughout the process, from distillation through to maturation, we have been working closely together every day with Bob and our team.
"We cannot wait to share the new expressions with the world.”
