With over a thousand castles dotted around Scotland, it'll come as no surprise that these imposing landmarks are a big draw for tourists.
Well a recent study of the most Instagrammed castles in the UK has just named Edinburgh castle as the highest trending on the social media site.
Beating out the likes of Windsor and Warwick, the stronghold which dominates the capital's skyline was named top of the list when it comes to being the landmark visitors loved to photograph the most.
Research by the team at Langley Castle Hotel analysed the total number of Instagram hashtags associated with the top 100 castles on Trip Advisor to reveal the most Instagrammed out of them all.
Ranking number one with a whopping 601,108 posts using the #edinburghcastle , Edinburgh was joined by Eilean Donan as the only other Scottish castle in the top 10 (which we were shocked by - there should definitely be more Scottish castles in there).
Other Scottish castles that made the top 20 included Stirling, Dunnottar and Urquhart Castle.
It seems that Outlander's popularity has also seen a growth in interest in Midhope Castle, with it placing 11th in Scotland and 58th overall.
