Scotland's Kieran Tierney ruled out of EURO 2020 opener against Czech Republic with injury

Kieran Tierney has been ruled out of Scotland's opening EURO 2020 game against Czech Republic through injury.

It's a massive blow for the Muirhouse man and Scotland boss Steve Clarke as Tierney is a vital part of his preferred system.

The Arsenal star would have started at left centre-back but it's understood that he's picked up a slight injury.

Scotland assistant John Carver confirmed that the 24-year-old sat out part of training in the build-up but suggested that Tierney was fine to play.

Leeds United star Liam Cooper will deputise for Tierney after Clarke named his starting line-up for Scotland's first game at an international tournament in 23 years.

Lyndon Dykes will lead the line with John McGinn, Stuart Armstrong and Ryan Christie tasked with providing support from midfield.

Scotland team to play Czech Republic: Marshall, O’Donnell, Robertson, Cooper, Hanley, Hendry, McGinn, McTominay, Armstrong, Christie, Dykes.
