Scotland's former Livingston stars can inspire current Lions, says midfielder Scott Robinson

Livingston’s Scott Robinson says seeing former team-mates Declan Gallagher and Lyndon Dykes shining for Scotland should be an inspiration to the current Lions.

The former Hearts midfielder watched on with pride as the pair starred for the Tartan Army as they ended a 22-year wait to qualify for a major tournament.

Gallagher and Dykes both started against Serbia as the Scots booked their ticket to next year’s European Championships last week and Robinson (pictured below) says they have shown there’s a ‘clear path’ from West Lothian to the national team.

Speaking to the Courier, he said: “It was amazing to see them both helping Scotland reach the Euros. I thought they were unbelievable.

“To see how far they’ve come and how well they’ve developed in the space of a couple of years is huge credit to them.

“It shows what could happen if you do well at Livingston and I’m sure some of the boys will really be inspired by it.

“You never know. Keep working away and look up to them and it can happen.”

Gallagher, now at Motherwell, made over 150 appearances for Livi before departing for Fir Park in June last year, while Dykes became the club’s highest ever sale after joining Queens Park Rangers in the summer for a guaranteed £1.7 million following one highly successful season at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

Robinson added: “It shows that there’s a clear path that can be taken from Livingston to the national team. You can see it happening with both Declan and Lyndon.

“Big Lyndon was outstanding. Just watching him against Serbia, he was tremendous and I’m delighted.

“You could see that the centre-backs weren’t enjoying a minute of it against him.

“Big Deccy at the back was brilliant too and he’s won every game for Scotland, which shows how he’s played. I’m delighted for them.”
