Scotland's first Christmas tree is up in Kilmarnock – 92 days before Santa arrives

There's no doubting that 2020 has been rough.

The country has spent more time in lockdown than out of it and with further restrictions being imposed this week, we could all use a bit of cheer.

And one Kilmarnock retailer has gone to extreme measures to raise a smile.

It may be 92 days until Christmas but that hasn't stopped an outlet in King Street getting shoppers in the festive spirit.

Clinton Cards did not emerge from the relaxation of retail lockdown rules in May but another retailer has moved into the town centre unit with the shop branding still in place.

The bright-white tree looks a bit unloved with no decorations and it doesn't even look like the branches are out properly.

And the tree is surrounded by many festive decorations in the store window.

Many shops have started stocking piles of Christmas-themed goods despite it being more than a month from Halloween.

Major supermarkets have already started pushing festive confectionery and gifts too.

A number of stores in Kilmarnock town centre also have Christmas paraphernalia.
