Scotland's first all-female rap show takes place in Glasgow this weekend

The macho men of urban music are taking a back seat on Saturday, when Scotland's first ever all-female rap show arrives in Glasgow.

London rapper Shay D is the headline act, supported by a banging line up of testosterone-free Scottish talent.

The full line-up is Shay D, DJ Ellie Prohan and Truemendous with Glaswegians Empress, Becca Starr, India Rose, Rana Marathon with DJ Shelltoe Mel and Becci Wallace.

The free show is being run by Affit, a voluntary group that runs alcohol-free events in north-west glasgow. It's at the Ice Box, the new venue in the Gorbals.

Promoter Donna Boyd said: "This is something the whole UK has never seen before. When bigger artists come to Scotland it's the guys who are asked to support them, nobody approaches the females."

She has put on all-women nights before, and the turnout from male music fans has been disappointing. "While we're out supporting them, it's not reciprocated."

Fellas, get involved.
