National team broadcaster Sky Sports has announced that Scotland 's upcoming playoff against Serbia will be broadcast free-to-air in the UK.
Steve Clarke's side are just one win away from a first major finals since 1998 as they head to Belgrade on Thursday for a place at Euro 2020.
Northern Ireland's playoff on the same day against Slovakia at Windsor Park has also been made free-to-air, with Ian Baraclough's men looking to make back-to-back Euros after reaching the 2016 tournament in France.
The move mirrors a past call by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who suggested Sky Sports should have moved the Celtic vs Rangers game last month to a free-to-air platform to stop fans without Sky travelling elsewhere to watch.
Sky Sports managing director Rob Webster said: "We know how significant these fixtures could be for fans of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
"With two sides on the brink of qualifying for a major tournament, we felt it was the right moment in these exceptional and unique circumstances to make the games more widely available.
"Sky Sports is a proud partner to many sports, both in the UK and around the world, and we have strived to stand alongside sport in unprecedented circumstances this year."
