'Scotland's cheapest flat' costs less than long haul flights or new family car

A super-cheap two bedroom flat, which could claim the title of Scotland's cheapest home, has gone on the market for a guide price of just £10,000.

The bargain property is located on Bonnybridge High Street, with handy transport links to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling. It will go under the hammer at an online auction on Friday, and is described as a "prime investment opportunity".

According to its online listing the newly-refurbished second-floor flat comes with an entrance hallway, lounge with dual-aspect windows, a modern internal kitchen, bathroom and two double befrooms. There's also partial double glazing and electric heating.

Future Property Auctions say the buyer could rake in a potential rental of £5,400 each year, with the price set low for a "guaranteed auction sale".

They add: "Extremely popular rental location with excellent access to transport links including the M80/M8/M9 motorway network."

For full details of the online auction visit Future Property Auctions website. They say the timed online auction will run from 10am to 4pm on Friday (29 January).

On the other end of the scale, Edinburgh Live reported at the weekend how Innerwick House – a property described as "Edinburgh's finest home" – had hit the market for £5million.

The prized Georgian mansion is located in the Murrayfield area and comes with eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms, five reception rooms and just under one acre of private land.
