Scotland's busiest and least used railway stations revealed

Figures have revealed Scotland's busiest and least used railway stations over 2018/2019.

Statistics show there were just 122 entries and exits from Barry Links station in Angus last year, making it the least used station in Scotland. That’s just over two passengers passing through per week on average. It meant the station was the fourth quietest in Britain in 2018/19. However, usage has more than doubled from 52 entries and exits in 2017/18.

In comparison, Glasgow Central was the busiest station in the country last year, with 32.8 million entries and exits, a 0.4% fall in a year.

Glasgow Central ranks as the 11th most used station in Britain, the same as in 2017/18.

As well as entries and exits, the station was also used by passengers changing trains on 3.7 million occasions last year.
