The country's royal family and Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen were also at the service.
It comes after the 46-year-old's son Alfred and daughters Alma and Agnes were killed by suicide bombers at the Shangri-La hotel in Colombo.
His other daughter Astrid survived while he is believed to also have been injured in the blast, according to The Mirror .
The family split their time between their home country, and Scotland, where nature-loving Mr Povlsen owns vast swathes of the Highlands.
Danish broadcaster TV2 reported the church was decorated with balloons and flowers in shades of pink and purple.
The Daily Mail reports that at a memorial service in Brande, Denmark, yesterday, a text message from the family was read out describing the loss as completely incomprehensible.

The message reportedly said: "With the many lovely people we have around us, close friends, talented colleagues and our loving family we will come together through it.
"We greatly appreciate the humanity that is also shown in Brande tonight - not only to our families and children, but to all the victims of the cruel acts in Sri Lanka."
The mourners sang hymns about the sun rising in the east.

The broadcaster pictured the Danish flag lowered to half-mast atop the Mr Povlsen's fashion company Bestsellers building at Aarhus Harbour.

He and his wife had reportedly planned to leave much of their land to their children, in hopes their progeny would continue their passion project of re-wilding their land.
The couple wanted to pass on their dreams of allowing the land to return to its natural state because they will not live to see the project through.
Tragically, their children were among the hundreds who lost their lives in the Easter Sunday attacks.
