Scotland's biggest ice rink is beginning to take shape in Glasgow and it's huge

Elfingrove is set to transform the banks of the River Kelvin in Glasgow into a festive wonderland this Christmas, and the biggest ice rink in Scotland – which is part of the fun - is beginning to take shape.

Set to run from December 2nd until December 24th, the popular itison event will be bringing a huge ice track, the second biggest in the UK after Hyde Park, to the west end of the city as a key part of the massive event.

And the itison team has shared the first images of the rink under construction and it looks huge.

It will allow people to enjoy ice skating with a covered see-through roof set against the stunning backdrop of a beautifully lit Kelvingrove Museum.

The itison team say the Ice Experience also comes complete with a unique skate up 'Mallow Café' for skaters to enjoy a warm mallow-inspired hot drink and treat.

How the finished rink will look (itison)

As well as the ice skating, there's also a snow disco planned.

CEO of itison and Elfingrove director, Oli Norman, believes the event will rival that of famous cities around the world, stating that the exciting ice rink will be compared to the likes of Rockefeller Centre in New York to Ice World in Vienna.

We can't wait to see what it looks like when it's finally finished.
