'Scotland's best burger' arrives in Ayrshire as New York restaurant sets up in region

An award-winning New York gourmet burger joint has started operating in Ayrshire.

Monterey Jack's has begun selling its range of fried chicken and burgers in Irvine.

While the American chain hasn't opened its own restaurant, it has set up shop in a sports bar in the town centre.

Foodies can have their scran delivered or collect it from R&A Sports Bar on High Street.

Monterey Jack's has also proved popular in Scotland with the eaterie taking the country's best burger award at the Scottish Hospitality Awards in 2019.

With its roots in New York, the American restaurant chain has opened nine outlets across Scotland's central belt.

The menu includes Texas Cheese Massacre which features double bacon, double monterey jack cheese and cheese sauce.

There is also a gut-busting combo of eight pieces of southern-friend chicken strips served with mac and cheese and fries.

For those not wanting to eat meat, the Veginator is available which comprises of a vegan veggie burger on a bun with lettuce, vegan mayo, beef tomato, avocado and chilli jam.
