Scotland records 18 coronavirus deaths and 3,261 cases in the past 24 hours

Scotland has recorded 18 coronavirus deaths and 3,261 cases in the past 24 hours, the latest Scottish Government figures show.

It means the death toll under this daily measure - of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days - stands at 8,532.

The daily test positivity rate is 8.8% from the 40,397 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results, up from 8.5% yesterday.

A total of 1,005 people were in hospital with recently confirmed Covid-19, six less than yesterday, with 79 patients in intensive care, the same as yesterday.

So far, 4,172,573 people have received the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccination and 3,824,074 have received their second dose.
