Scotland has recorded 12 new Covid-19 deaths in the past 24 hours while cases increased by 6,836 overnight.
It brings the death toll since last March – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – to 8,210.
10,612 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate since the beginning of the pandemic.
There are currently 928 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with 87 being treated in intensive care.
To date 4,133,606 people have received their first vaccination with 3,757,337 having a second jab.
The figures come after Nicola Sturgeon issued a warning as coronavirus hospitalisations across Scotland increased by 50 per cent in the last week.
The First Minister addressed MSPs in the Scottish Parliament about the state of the covid pandemic as she revealed that cases were starting to slow down following a spike.
Cases of the deadly virus surged after the majority of lockdown restrictions were lifted on August 9.
