Scotland quarantine list: trips to Canary Islands now require two weeks of self-isolation

The Canary Islands will be added to the UK's quarantine list from this week, it has been announced.

The decision will mean that anyone from Scotland coming home from the islands must now self-isolate.

One of the few remaining areas that was still on the travel corridor list, the new rule will come into place from 4am tomorrow (Saturday).

This means that anyone returning to the UK after this time must stay at home for two weeks.

With many supposedly booked to visit the Spanish Islands over the Christmas period, a sudden rise in cases has meant that the destination will not be easy to travel to.

However, overseas travel has been strongly advised against unless it is for an essential purpose, as the country remains under strict tier levels.

The announcement comes after it was stated that the second wave of coronavirus in Scotland can be traced to overseas holidays in the summer.
