Scotland on flood alert as forecasters issue 'danger to life' warning

Danger to life flood warnings have issued for parts of Scotland tomorrow.

An amber weather warning is in place for Edinburgh , the Lothians and the Borders, with forecasters saying a deluge of rain is likely to cause travel disruption and flooding.

Driving conditions are expected to be difficult in the worst affected areas around Kelso, Dunbar, Lauder, Greenlaw, Jedburgh , Galashiels, Tranet and North Berwick between midnight tonight and 3pm tomorrow.

The Met Office has also issued a yellow, be aware, warning for the wider south east area and the capital.

Forecasters say homes and businesses are likely to be flooded in the worst affected areas, who damage to some buildings.

Fast flowing and deep water is expected and is a danger to life.

Bus and train services are also likely to be affected, with spray and flooding on roads making conditions difficult and causing some closures.

The public is also warned that some communities could be cut off by flooded roads, with power cuts to homes and businesses likely.
