Scotland lockdown rules: Nicola Sturgeon sets out timeline until July starting with level 3 move

Nicola Sturgeon has this afternoon confirmed Scotland will move to level 3 lockdown on Monday.

The First Minister also set out a timeline for the country to reach 'normality' by July, with the hope restrictions will be eased to level 0 by late June.

In a widely expected move today, the relaxation of covid restrictions from Monday, April 26, will mean pubs, restaurants and cafes will be able to open for the first time in months.

Shops will also be able to fully reopen, as will gyms and swimming pools, libraries and museums.

Meanwhile, non-essential travel will be permitted between Scotland, England and Wales and tourist accommodation will be allowed to reopen, subject to social distancing rules.

Furthermore, the limits on people attending life events, including weddings, civil partnerships, funerals and receptions will increase to 50.

The FM said that, cases permitting, Scotland will enter level 2 on Monday, May 17, level one on Monday June 7 and level 0 in late June.

The First Minister also announced a further two people have sadly died with coronavirus in Scotland and another 178 positive covid-19 cases have been recorded across the country in the last 24 hours.
