Scotland invented it! Passionate Scots hit back at map that sees England 'claiming' Irn Bru

A map of Europe has been trolled by passionate Scots after it claimed that Irn Bru was a British drink - not Scottish.

Social media went into a frenzy today after a map showing the national drinks of every European country went viral.

France was crowned creator of Orangina while Fanta originated in Germany.

But things started to head south when Twitter users spotted that England and Wales were claiming Irn Bru as one of their own.

Epic Maps took to social media to boast about its colourful creation, but Scottish Twitter was quick to clap back.

The Scottish fizzy juice, often described as "Scotland's other national drink”, is produced in Cumbernauld by A.G. Barr of Glasgow.

It launched in 1901 and as well as being sold throughout the United Kingdom, Irn-Bru can be found across the globe.

Before we go any further, let's remember the tasty orange drink has been Scotland’s most popular drink for decades.

Now we hate to create any divides between us and our Welsh and English pals - but we can all agree they don’t drink half the amount of Bru we do.

One Twitter user went in with a witty response, claiming Scotland had bragging rights over the legendary drink and that the rest of the UK would have to find an alternative.

The tweet read: "Irn bru is Scottish. England/Wales can have Vimto.”

Another person tweeted: “England and Wales don’t get to claim Irn Bru, that’s strictly Scottish.”

Agreeing, a third Scot said: “Irn Bru is strictly a Scottish product, the English have their own stuff.”

A fourth person wrote: “England didn’t invent Irn Bru!”
