Scotland international Stephen O'Donnell training with Hamilton after Kilmarnock exit

Scotland international and ex-Kilmarnock defender Stephen O'Donnell is training with Hamilton Accies.

The 28-year-old right-back is a free agent after turning down a new deal at Rugby Park and was pictured training with Brian Rice's squad for their session at New Douglas Park this morning.

However, Accies gaffer Rice has insisted they won't be making a swoop for O'Donnell, who has been linked with a move down south, ahead of the new Scottish Premiership campaign this weekend.

Rice told Lanarkshire Live Sport : "It would be fantastic if we got a Scotland international to join us, but that's not going to happen.

"We are there to help him. He's a cracking lad, he's trained away and integrated with the rest of the squad.

"But he's here to help himself get fit.

"Stephen asked if he could come in and do a bit of fitness work with us.

"He's obviously out of contract at Kilmarnock and I think he's waiting on the window opening in England.

"I think that's where he sees his future.

"We are just giving him training facilities to make sure he's ready whenever he signs for a club."

Hamilton kick-off their Scottish Premiership campaign on Sunday when they travel to defending champions Celtc.
