Scotland's scorching weather continues as high temperatures stay in place for many parts of country

Scotland is set for scorching weather with temperatures soaring into the high 20s today, and although things are set to cool down, the thick coats are likely to remain in the cupboard. Scots will be able to bask in the sunshine but must remain careful and cool off when possible.

This comes following Scotland's hottest day on Sunday with a recorded 29.3C at Leuchars, and scorching sun across the country. Revellers In Glasgow had blue skies following the highly anticipated last day of TRNSMT festival, which was headlined by Lewis Capaldi.

The Met Office say Scotland is in for more good weather, with a forecasted dry and sunny day across most of the country, although there is set to be some clouds across the north. Aberdeen is set to roast at 27C while Glasgow is forecasted to hit 25C today.

Through the rest of the week temperatures are set to cool back down, although parts of the country will remain in the low 20C range. There is a chance that things will heat back up this weekend, however, with temperatures set to pass the 25C mark.

Met Office Meteorologist Annie Shuttleworth said: "It will be a hot start to the week for Scotland but from tomorrow temperatures will cool off again, into the mid-teens across western areas where it’ll be cloudier and cooler and the low 20S in the east."

"Next weekend temperatures could build again but will likely be in the mid, possibly high 20’s."

Met Office experts have also warned about a high pollen count and UV level through the week, which will particularly affect Edinburgh.
