Scotland handed Euro 2020 boost as Israel's £6m man ruled out of playoff clash

Israel have suffered a massive blow ahead of their play-off with Scotland after Shakhtar Donetsk's £6 million talent Manor Solomon was ruled out of the clash.

The 20-year-old striker is regarded as the future of Israeli football and made headlines after he netted against Manchester City in the Champions League clash in November.

But he's suffered an ankle injury and is expected to be out for three months, which would certainly rule him out of the Euro 2020 semi-final play-off at Hampden in March.

Solomon said: "It's the same injury I have suffered previously. These are very difficult days for me.

"But I intend to return stronger than before."

Solomon helped Shakhtar Donetsk to a Ukrainian League and Cup double last season and would have been a major danger to the Scots if he was fit.

Scotland have major injury concerns of their own with doubts over Kieran Tierney, Scott McTominay and John McGinn ahead of the semi-final showdown.
