Scotland fans face Euro 2020 ticket nightmare as UEFA warns briefs will NOT be refunded if games moved from Hampden

Scotland fans are facing a potential Euro 2020 ticket nightmare as UEFA warns that tickets won't be refunded beyond the end of this month if matches are moved.

A dramatic play-off win over Serbia assured that Steve Clarke 's side are in a major tournament for the first time since 1998 and two matches are to be played at Hampden.

The Tartan Army snapped up tickets for ties against Croatia and the Czech Republic, with the other match in the group a trip to Wembley to face England.

With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic though there has been speculation that the 12 city format could be scrapped for the summer tournament.

Games could be played behind closed doors or moved to a single host country, with UEFA expected to make a decision on venues in March.

But the governing body insists no refunds will be issued for fans who can't attend a game in a new location, with supporters told to ask for refunds THIS MONTH before a decision has been made.

The new ticket refund policy states: "In the event of the postponement of the match before kick-off for a reason of Force Majeure, the ticket will be valid for the rearranged playing of the match. The applicant will not be entitled to a refund of the tickets if they are unable to attend the rearranged playing of the match.

"For the purposes of this refund policy, 'Force Majeure' means any event affecting Euro 2020 arising from or attributable to acts, events, omissions or accidents which are beyond the reasonable control of UEFA and/or the relevant host association, including, without limitation, any strike or labour disturbance, fire, abnormally inclement climate conditions, flood, lightning, storm, explosion, earthquake, subsidence, structural damage, epidemic, pandemic or other natural physical disaster, riot, disease, civil commotion or armed conflict, war or actual, anticipated or threatened terrorist action."

However, UEFA makes clear there is an exemption if "reasonable travelling distances" are exceeded.

Fans have been told to apply for refunds by January 26, but refunds will be available beyond that date if games are cancelled, played behind closed doors, or moved to a venue where the ticket is not valid due to capacity or distancing.
