Scotland fans BANNED from major London Euro 2020 venue as Tartan Army locked out for Auld Enemy clash

The Tartan Army have been BANNED from one of London's best-known football venues - as this month's Auld Enemy clash has been designated England only.

Boxpark venues in Shoreditch and Croydon, well known for exuberant pint-throwing celebrations when England score, will not permit any fans wearing Scotland shirts citing "licensing conditions".

The sold out events in their large London bars have left many Scots based in the big smoke scrambling for a place to watch the game having missed out on match tickets for the Wembley showdown.

Boxpark's first venue opened in 2011 from refitted shipping containers and their biggest venue outside the national stadium holds up to 2,000 punters.

That one won't be showing the game due to its proximity to the ground but the other London locations have been recognised as some of the best places to watch a game in the capital.

However no Scotland fans will be allowed for the Euro 2020 showdown to cheer on Steve Clarke's heroes.

The Boxpark website's terms and conditions for the match read: "Please Note: We are only permitting England fans to the screening of the game.

"Due to licensing conditions we cannot permit those wearing Scotland shirts into the venue."

A BOXPARK spokesperson commented: “As a football Fanpark destination, it is standard safety practice to sensibly separate opposing fans, and for most of these events, we operate under strict licensing restrictions whereby only allocated fans or ticket holders are permitted into the venue.

"Due to the nature of this event, we are following the same procedure to ensure all fans have a fantastic but safe experience at BOXPARK in line with the safety management plans agreed with the local authorities.”

The rule makes a mockery of recent outrage directed at the Tennent's Bar on Byres Road in Glasgow for not including an England flag in their window display.

Eight flags including those from Scotland and Wales were on display but the flag of St George was not - along with the flags of 15 other participants in the Euros.

Tennent's Bar stated: "We have decorated the bar in preparation for the Euros kicking off this week, with flags of all nations involved on display throughout the pub.

"We’re excited to welcome fans from all countries to the bar throughout the tournament, where they can comfortably enjoy every game and soak up what will be a great atmosphere.”
