'Scotland fan' falls from fourth-floor London hotel window after police called to rammy

A man who fell from a four-floor hotel room window in London is understood to be a Scotland fan.

Officers were called to the Corus hotel on Lancaster Gate in Hyde Park at 9.40pm on Friday night, after reports a guest was throwing items from a window onto the street.

The 27-year-old man then plunged from the fourth-floor hotel window.

The man had injuries to his hands.

Police arrested him on suspicion of affray and he has been detained.

Two officers were injured while detaining him and a taser was discharged.

He was rushed to hospital but his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

It comes as thousands of Tartan Army revellers travelled to London to watch Scotland's clash at Wembley.

The hotel has now been cordoned off by police who are continuing their investigation.

A City of Westminster Police spokesperson said: "We were called at around 9.40pm on Friday to a man throwing items from the window of a hotel in Lancaster Gate, W2.

"It was also reported that the man had injuries to his hands.

"Officers attended the location and detained a 27-year-old man after he fell from a fourth-floor window.

"We believe his fall was broken by structures at a lower level.

"wo officers were injured detaining the man; a Taser was discharged.

"He was arrested on suspicion of affray.

"The man has been taken to hospital for treatment.

"His condition is not believed to be life-threatening. He will soon be discharged from hospital to be taken into police custody."

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called last night at 20:40pm, June 18, to reports of an incident at the Corus Hotel in Lancaster Gate.

"We sent a number of resources to the scene including an ambulance, an incident response officer and the London Air Ambulance car.

"A man on scene who had fallen from the second floor was assessed and conveyed to hospital."
