Scotland face Israel clash BEFORE long awaited Euro 2020 play off showdown

Scotland could square off against Israel in the Nations League before meeting in a Euro 2020 play-off.

A new UEFA plan may produce a fixture reshuffle that pushes the long-awaited fixture even further back.

Steve Clarke 's men are still awaiting a new date for facing Israel in the semi-finals of the play-offs, after the tie was twice postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The two nations were also drawn together again in the Nations League group, along with the Czech Republic and Slovakia, with Scotland 's opening game scheduled for September 4.

And Czech FA president Martin Malík has revealed that UEFA want to restart international football with Nations League games first as a test before they play the Euro 2020 play-offs.

He said: " UEFA have told us they still expect the first international games after the lockdown to be the opening ties in the Nations League.

"They are currently trying to draw up plans to fit those games and the Euro 2020 play-offs later so that everything fits.

"UEFA are working in cooperation with FIFA so that they can expand international windows.

"That way, instead of playing two international games in these windows, we would be playing three games. That would mean teams can catch up on their lost fixtures quicker.

"But of course, everything could still change again."

Scotland are due to kick off their second Nations League campaign with a double-header at home to Israel and away to Czech Republic.
