Scotland face fresh Czech Republic drama as their manager and one player test positive for Covid

Czech Republic will send their main national team to face Scotland on Wednesday despite another bout of Covid-19 chaos.

But they will be without head coach Jaroslav Silhavy after he and one unnamed player recorded positive tests, with four players set to be added to the squad on Tuesday morning.

Assistant Jiri Chytry will take charge of the visitors at Hampden for the Nations League clash.

Last time the sides met in the reverse fixture in Olomouc, a full reserve squad and coaching staff were drafted in with only two previously capped players.

But there won't be a repeat this time for Wednesday's clash, with the likes of West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek and Burnley striker Matej Vydra available.

Meanwhile, Hibs defender Paul Hanlon has received a call-up to Steve Clarke's squad.

Hanlon's defensive team-mate at Easter Road Ryan Porteous was called up to the national side in the initial 26-man announcement in September before Easter Road right-back Paul McGinn followed.

Now centre-back Hanlon has joined the contingent to make it three Scotland call-ups for Jack Ross' side.

The national side top their Nations League group with seven points with the Czechs one point behind in second.

The top two group winners who do not qualify for the 2022 World Cup in regular qualifying starting next year will be awarded a play-off spot to reach Qatar.
