Covid passports could be extended to pubs and cinemas from December 6 in Scotland.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said a decision would be made next week.
She said it would include “some other licensed and hospitality premises” - an apparent hint that pubs and restaurants may be included. It could also include theatres.
Scotland has recorded 17 coronavirus deaths and 2,771 new cases in the past 24 hours, according to the latest data.
It means the death toll under this daily measure – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – is 9,406.

The daily test positivity rate was 12.8%, up from 12.3% the previous day, figures published by the Scottish Government show.
Last week, Deputy First Minister John Swinney revealed the Scottish Government is considering extending the vaccine certification scheme – already in place in nightclubs and at other large events – to more parts of the hospitality and leisure sector.
Mr Swinney stressed a decision has not yet been made but said Covid-19 was at a “concerningly high level” and Scotland is in a “precarious and unpredictable” position.
He added that ministers were also considering steps to increase home working and “whether changes are needed to extend use of face coverings”.
As the First Minister has considered introducing more lockdown measures, Boris Johnson has been slamming the opportunity to introduce plan B which involves mandatory face masks, Covid passports and working from home.
Nicola Sturgeon is to reveal if further coronavirus restrictions – including an extension of Scotland’s vaccine passport scheme – are to be brought in to help combat rising numbers of infections.
Business leaders, however, have claimed almost two-thirds of firms are opposed to the measures being considered, fearing they could “place thousands of firms and jobs at risk”.
A total of 65% of companies surveyed for Scottish Chambers of Commerce (SCC) were against vaccine passports being used more in the hospitality and leisure sectors, together with increased home working and greater use of face coverings.
Ms Sturgeon made sure to note Scotland is the most vaccinated part of the UK.
