Scotch whisky unveiled as sponsors of top level golf tournament

Loch Lomond Whiskies has been named as sponsor of this week's WGC HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai, China.

Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Phil Mickelson, Jordan Spieth, Tommy Fleetwood, Sergio Garcia, Francesco Molinari and Shane Lowry are among the top players competing for the event's Old Tom Morris Cup.

The tournament, which takes place at the Sheshan International Golf Club, is one of four World Golf Championship (WGC) events and the highest profile Asian event with prize money of almost £8 million.

Loch Lomond Whiskies is already the Official Spirit of The Open and sponsors the AIG Women’s British Open and ASI Ladies Scottish Open. It s ambassadors Colin Montgomerie, Darren Clarke and Cristie Kerr each have their own signature limited edition single malt crafted by Loch Lomond Whiskies’ master blender Michael Henry.

Loch Lomond Group CEO Colin Matthews said: “We are thrilled to agree a new partnership with such an iconic tournament. China is a key market for Loch Lomond Whiskies and we are delighted with our growth there. The interest in golf is also increasing rapidly in China so we are pleased to partner with the tournament and to be able to introduce our award-winning brands to China’s ever expanding golfing community .”
